In the past, the world was under the control of the Demon King
Every day was just like a living hell.
Humans were unable to live their everyday lives, and, constantly in fear of when they would be slaughtered mercilessly, they passed their miserable days hidden away, where they would not be seen.
However, finally, the world changed dramatically,
when a band of warriors afterwards known as the Heroes destroyed the Demon King, sacrificing their own lives in the process.
They brought about a world of peace,
which people had only dared to dream about before.
Humans came out of hiding,
and lived their lives no longer in fear of being slaughtered.
Thanks to the Heroes, this hell was transformed into a paradise, overflowing with happiness.
Of course, with the passing of time,
humans were born who knew nothing but the peaceful, happy world.
One of them was a young boy called Vedley.
Vedley was very proud of his parents,
who devoted themselves to helping others.
With his mom and dad, and his kind, caring older sister,
he spent his days content and happy,
believing that things would never change.
But one day, that contentedness was shattered when Vedley's parents were killed. What's more, Vedley's reckless actions caused their deaths...
The young boy grew up, and became a young man.
However, the emotional scars from his childhood remained, as deep as ever.
Anything and everything reminded him of the past, and he was forever full of remorse and regret.
Then, one day, he came across a man called Achieitz, and heard an unbelievable proposition.
From Achieitz, Vedley learned of the existence of automata, called Letoiles, who have the ability to control time.
Achieitz told Vedley that he could form a pact with one of them and become a Maschelle, and that as a Maschelle, he would be able to take part in the battles where the Letoiles would attempt to steal each other's cores (known as Sertzes).
Finally, Achieitz promised Vedley that if he was victorious in the battles, he would be able to make any wish he had come true.
Achieitz's proposition was completely absurd.
Normally, nobody would believe anything like that.
But Vedley was different.
It might have been a lie, or a joke, or the ramblings of a madman,
but if there was even a chance of bringing his parents back to life, Vedley was willing to believe it.
And so, Vedley made the decision to take part in the battles...
